Emergency Paediatric First Aid
Level 3 Emergency Paediatric First Aid (6 Hours) covers everything you need to know about how to help a sick or injured child / infant during an emergency. The course is taught over one practical day of attendance. This course follows the latest guidelines from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and is fully recognised by Ofsted. Learners are awarded a nationally recognised certificate, which is valid for three years.

About this course
Emergency Paediatric First Aid is taught over one classroom day (6 hours). During the day a Train Aid instructor will be on hand to teach you how to come to the assistance of a child / infant who has had an accident or sudden illness.
The training day focuses on a core set of lifesaving skills that can be applied in and out of the workplace. Learners are assessed through practical observation and multiple choice questions at the end of the day.
Topics Covered:
- Responsibilities of the paediatric first aider
- Unconscious casualty
- Non-breathing child / infant (CPR)
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Choking
- Major bleeding
- Seizures
- Minor injuries & burns
Why this course?
This course is suitable for nannies, schools, babysitters, sports coaches and for anyone else who would like a basic understanding of paediatric first aid.
It can help childcare workers incl. schools meet the requirements of both Ofsted and the EYFS. Most importantly the taught knowledge can be used to save the life of an infant / child during a real life emergency.
Childminders, nursery school workers and after school clubs should enrol on the longer 12 hour paediatric first aid qualification.
